Rene Baergen, Lead Pastor

Rene is excited to be part of a many-cultured congregation and treasures the opportunity to come together, in worship, over coffee or on the soccer pitch, to witness to the boundary-breaking love of our God. He completed a PhD in Biblical Studies (Emmanuel College, University of Toronto) and has taught in seminaries in Toronto, Peru, Uruguay and Cuba. But he most enjoys gathering around the Bible with ordinary people interested in God’s extraordinary call. He has been ministering at First Mennonite Church since 2011.

Christina Edmiston, Pastor

Christina’s joy is to walk alongside people of all ages as they awaken to, and grow in loving relationship with themselves, God, and neighbour. She ministers in the areas of worship, music, and “Y3” – high school youth, young adults and young families.

Christina also ministers alongside the Outreach Committee, bringing her experience in refugee advocacy, and heart for the community, to strengthen the church’s mission. She joined the FMC pastoral team in 2012.

Nancy Brubaker, Pastor

Nancy finds great satisfaction in welcoming young and old alike into the community of faith that is First Mennonite, and providing care for those who are limited in their ability to be present. She has been pastoring at First Mennonite Church since 2012, first as Lead Pastor and now with particular attention to seniors.

Please feel very welcome to contact any of First Mennonite’s pastors!

¡Por favor, sean muy bienvenidos! ¡Y que Dios les bendiga!’
