On Saturday afternoon, June 10, First Mennonite is excited to host our second annual Neighbours Day event in our parking lot, in support of Kitchener’s city-wide neighbourhood strategy.  We invite our Kitchener East neighbourhood & friends of all places, to come and enjoy fun, food, friendship, creative expression, music and some hands’ on work projects in support of refugees world over.  We want to not only enjoy the company of one another, but also contribute to needs in our world.

One of the projects will be to pack hygiene “get involved” kits, which are sent to refugee camps by Mennonite Central Committee. https://mcccanada.ca/get-involved/kits/hygiene.  We will work together to pack 400 kits!   Please bring packaged soap bars to contribute to the kits.

You’ll also have a chance to knot comforters, again sent to displaced people.

The Hmong people in our area are bringing in a beautiful embroidery art display, telling the story of their flight from their homeland in Laos and Cambodia, many years ago.
