Saturday, September 21stDoors Open at First Mennonite Church: 10 am to 5 pm

Take a guided tour of the area’s oldest cemetery, which includes the grave markers of Kitchener’s earliest non-native settlers (the site was part of the Benjamin Eby farmstead). Wander through the building for historical displays. Light refreshments served all day. Join congregants for a hymn sing featuring traditional and global songs, reflecting our 200 year history, from, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Doors Open Choir rehearsal for hymn sing from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

September 27th to Sunday, September 29thHomecoming Weekend


Church will be available for ‘reunion’ groups to use as a meeting/gathering space.


3:00 pm: Homecoming Choir Practice; for current and past participants. This choir will sing on Sunday afternoon.

3:00-7:00 PM:   BBQ and Community Carnival

  • Fun for all ages!
  • Great food @ 5:00!
  • Music by our own internationally acclaimed children’s performers Ronno and Bryan Moyer Suderman!
  • Worship in Spanish and English @ 6:00!
  • And lots of time in between to catch up with visitors and friends.

1:30 pm: Homecoming Choir Practice (Including Hallelujah Chorus! All welcome!)

2:30 pm: Anniversary Service

  • Guest Speaker: Janet Plenert, Vice President, Mennonite World Conference; Canadian Director, Mennonite Disaster Service. Homecoming Choir Singing. Special offering in support of refugee sponsorship.
  • Tree planting

4:30 pm: Refreshments & Fellowship
